Atmospheric Tundra Fragrance- marine ozone accord, salt accord, frozen air, snow crocuses, juniper, grey pine, bergamot, and ambergris.

Since I was a very young child, I’ve always been fascinated by snow, ice, cold weather and everything that’s even related to the cold. Then, as a teenager, I became enthralled with the music of Jane Siberry. She, and her voice was entrancing with all her eccentric songs about, well, everything. It wasn’t often you’d come across much Jane Siberry music where I lived so, whenever I saw any album, I’d snatch it up quickly. So, this scent, Atmospheric Tundra, is inspired by her song ‘You Don’t Need’, from the album ‘No Borders Here’, which came out in 1984. Here are the lyrics from that part of the song.

Inspired by the Jane Siberry song, "You Don't Need":

And the wind howls across the ice floes
And the frozen furrows quicken
As I stumble to the tundra
And the tundra is my lover
And I lie here
And I raise one arm unto the sky
And if I raise it high enough
And hold it long enough
Will the snow pull me back through?

After hearing this song, I dreamed of going to live on a tundra. But, you must hear the rest of the song to really appreciate it. I have many upcoming scents in mind that are centered around her songs so, stay tuned and definitely check out her music. Each song is so individualistic, whether it’s singing about dogs or angels…. Classic, eclectic manifestations of genius.

So, the inspiration for the scent, the song, ‘You Don’t Need’. I have never been to a frozen tundra but, I have experienced the beauty of frozen earth. And since I haven’t had the privilege to visit one, this is merely my own interpretation of how I’d imagine it to smell.

I feel the fresh iciness of the tundra on my skin, intermingled with a slight thaw, with snow crocuses making their first appearances in frozen sub zero air. There’s a note of crisp greenery from the Canadian Grey Pine and a note of juniper floats on the air current. A clean, marine salty accord provides a molecular mineral, watery vibe. Then the unmistakable note of humid musky ambergris presents itself as the radiant gray amber of the sea. There’s much more but, I’d like the wearer to experience the ‘feel’ and representation of it without disclosing each distinct entity of scent. I can almost see the Northern Lights.
