Soothe Fragrance -white plum tea, blended with jasmine, wild orchid, gingered plum, pear accord, honey, blackcurrant, sugared amber, and cashmere musk.
I see the word soothe, and by just looking at it, I’m soothed. So, I decided to embark on making a fragrance that is descriptive of the word. I like to associate word and song to scent. And everyone needs soothing from time to time. This is my own rendition of Soothe.
Soothe. For balance & reflection. Welcoming & harmonizing. Inspiration & creativity.
White tea has been used in Asia throughout the centuries as an elixir of vitality and youth. I’m looking more to the perspective of ‘energy of youth’. White tea, for me, has properties of balance and deep reflection. Wild Orchid is the stronger floral in this scent, not jasmine. I associate the amazing scent of orchid as being welcoming to others. White plum is elegant and refined and offers creativity outside the mainstream. Fresh cut, juicy Bartlett Pear provides that hint of fruitiness and gingered white plum has the effervescent quality of crimson plum with undertones of black currant and cinnamon bark, for a mere hint of spiciness. A dollop of plain honey is added for good measure, while the scent rests on a bed of sugared amber and cashmere musk. There are also subtle essences of orris, muguet, and powdered raspberry. This scent is fairly a straight up, Asian orchid plum tea with very light spice notes of ginger and cinnamon. Soothe. is a harmonizing and relaxing scent, that also is a calm stimulant for streaks of creativity. Soothing indeed.
If I were to listen to music, specifically for this scent, it’d be the soundscore to The Joy Luck Club composed by Rachael Portman. This movie, based on the book by Amy Tan, is a must-see and the music is indescribably haunting and beautiful. I’ve had the soundtrack since the movie premiered in the 1990’s and it’s always a go-to for relaxation and reflection. Take a listen. You won’t be disappointed. If anything, you’ll be inspired.
